Education is the basic right of every child and a very important aspect for progress of any nation. In the modern era no nation can survive without quality education. Human Resource Development is the central pillar of the government policy and education plays a fundamental role towards the formation of human social capital. The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has aligned all its programs to achieve the targets of Sustainable Development Goals.
In order to implement the essentials of Vision-2025 this Ministry has already taken steps to ensure access, equity, quality and good governance in education. Our strong emphasis is on higher education, technical and vocational education, formal and non-formal basic education. The Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan has already pledged that Pakistan will dedicate 4% of the GDP by 2018 or 20% of the expenditure towards education sector. The ultimate aim of all our endeavors is to transform the country into a knowledge economy leading to a knowledge society.
The Government of Pakistan has formulated the first ever National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy 2015 which aims to cater to the needs of our industrial sector by adding value to human capital through imparting requisite training and skills.
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training is in the process of revising National Education Policy 2009 in consultation with all stakeholders. The institution of Inter Provincial Education Ministerial Conference (IPEMC) has been revived and quarterly meetings are being held regularly in Federal/Provincial/Area capitals.
To ensure minimum National Standards in education, National Curriculum Council (NCC) has been formed with membership from all provinces.
I am sure that this initiative of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training will improve the state of Education in the Country and will ensure holistic development and economic growth.
